Besides a good service proposition and quality summaries, this application is very inferior : audio halts when you lock your phone or switch app, you cannot forward you article to your kindle... As a whole a very weak version compared to its website. Please improve Quick !
I love to listen to getabstract audio book summaries in the subway but the app cant cache the audio stream therefor it interupts when the network connection brakes down. Their is no ffwd mode so i have to "re-Listen" the whole audiofile. Another malfunction is, stopping the audio when the screensaver hits in or you leave the app.
i like the idea of summarizing books very well, and getabstract is now among my TOP 10 Apps..
very good and effective way to learn
I use getabstact as part of my Xing.de-Membership and I like the "plattform" for its portfolio of titles/summaries and the possibility to download summaries for several devices (Kindle, PDF, eBook/iBooks etc.). However, I have downloaded the "app" in order to read summaries OFFLINE and even better: use the reading feature offline, so that I could listen to new summaries while driving the car in disconnected areas. Obviously the synchronisation fails, its simply not working offline on my iPhone 5s (with latest iOS). With a working data-connection the app is working, although even then its at least very very slow and my favorite-section is ALWAYS reloading instead of displaying my titles instantly. Browsing / navigation is a mess. The only thing that is working ok is: - reading the summary while being online - listening to the read summary while being online
As an existing getAbstract subscriber, having access to their great library in an iPhone format is fantastic. The only reason I havent given it 5 stars is that I want to encourage them to seek future improvements such as switching to a scaleable landscape mode when reading the summaries - something not presently supported. Glad I bought it.
The synopses are way too brief and provide no info on their own. Though the intro says "You will learn X", the brief doesnt actually contain much real info other than to talk about what the book will talk about. Watered down - Would find this app more valuable if there were more "juice". Maybe it is just the ones I have read, but at this point I wont be subscribing or buying more downloads unless they start to include more info.
Really good content in terms of summaries... But for a company who charges 300 $ /year ! Its a shame to have a mediocre app like that. The concept is really cool but plz update that app ASAP!!
I find this to be a useful app that serves a good purpose. For a lot of non-fiction reading, you dont need to read the full book. This app instead tries to summarize these books in 15-20 minute reads. Both useful for learning and identifying books that you might want to read.
I drive a lot, so the ability to filter out summaries without audio would be key.
Contents is good, but technology being used is a bit old. More up-to-date functionalities is expected.
Know how read a lot of books
Hi, thanks for your amazing app. Just one suggestion: it would be perfect to have audio recordings for ALL the books. Best regards Simone
The app interface is clean and simple
Providing mobile access to the summaries, effective search tools and supporting downloads for listening to audio-enabled books, this app delivers as promised.
I can read my abstracts wherever I go. If you make a book your favorite, you can read it offline. Highly recommended if you would like to keep up-to-date wit trends but dont have time to read an entire book.
The company I work for pays my subscription to this service. Its great to listen to all these audio books driving to and from work. Love it. To the developers: However the user interface could do with better features to manage audiobooks: download to local device, delete, mark as read, etc.
Two issues with the App: it requires user ID and password every time you call it and, different than the web browser version, you cannot save it as PDF.
The service provides summaries to business books and reports. Very useful since business books tend to repeat ideas over and over. I dont give the app 5 stars because I keep getting signed out very often. If this is to validate I am still subscribed to the service the app should find another way to restrict access. At a minimum should have the option of logging in with Touch Id.
